Station 2 Project Updates

Construction is underway for the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District Station 2 project, located at 5015 Stringfellow Road, St. James City, FL. This important project will provide our community with a modern, resilient fire station designed to better support our firefighters and emergency response needs. We look forward to sharing the progress of this project with you along the way. Please check back below for periodic construction updates, photos, and project milestones as Station 2 takes shape!

Perimeter Cleared 8/20/2026

Our Station 2 project is taking shape! Today, the perimeter was cleared, and silt fencing will be installed as we move forward.

This project has been in the works for some time as we worked diligently to secure grant funding. We are proud to have been awarded a $5.6 million Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) grant through Lee County, funded by HUD following Hurricane Ian.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts and support of the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District Board of Commissioners and staff, as well as the Lee County Board of Commissioners and staff. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this project a reality.

As construction progresses, the location will also have a temporary fire station trailer in place to ensure we can continue providing uninterrupted fire and emergency medical services to the area throughout the project.

We’re excited to see Station 2 become a reality and serve our community for years to come!

We will announce an official groundbreaking ceremony in the near future. Stay tuned!
