Chief Mickuleit has been a full-time member of the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District since September 2004 when he was hired as a firefighter. In 2015, Chief Mickuleit was unanimously appointed by the Board of Fire Commissioners to lead the District.

Chief Mickuleit has an Associate's Degree in Fire Science, a Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership/Fire Rescue Leadership. In addition to his degrees, he is a Florida State certified paramedic and holds various other field-related certifications.

He is dedicated to the community and visitors within the community. His vision is to always exceed the community’s expectations and to be proactive in providing a better service. “We are a community-based fire department. Providing them with excellent service is of the utmost importance. However, it's also about community involvement. That is why our district provides so many community events and outreach programs to give back. Our success comes from the community's support and our outstanding crews of firefighters and staff.”
