Fire Prevention Week October 8th through the 12th 2007
Two teams get ready to attempt to dunk Principle Rob Mazzoli in the dunk tank.
The truck you see in the background was also part of the days activities as the Firefighters started the truck on fire and then simulated an attack on the fire for the kids, unfortunately I didn't have enough hands to take pictures as this was happening.
Down he goes! The kids got to use real fire hoses that were being supplied by one of our Engines.
The kids all had a blast not only getting to use real fire lines but also getting to dunk their Principle at the same time!
We are lucky enough to be close enough to the school to have the kids be able to walk over to Station 1 for the activities. First all the kids are taught how to be fire safe and how to survive a fire situation in the home. After talking with the kids they then were treated to a real fire simulation as the Firefighters started a truck on fire then responded to the fire and put it out as if it was a real fire situation. After the fire they then got to spray the hoses themselves and dunk their Principle or a Firefighter by aiming the hoses at fire targets on the dunk tank. This all took place over a three day period and we have gotten nothing but positive feedback from all that participated, and we love doing it as well!
