Matlacha-Pine Island Firefighter’s Auxiliary

2004

Information and Activities

The Matlacha-Pine Island Firefighter’s Auxiliary was re-established to provide emotional and financial support to the officers, firefighters, volunteers and staff of our local fire department.

With 12 members, we have had a very successful year of fund raising and activities.  Last year we participated in the Taste of Pine Island, and Mango Mania.

As a result of our fund raising and the generous donations from various sources we were able to provide revenue toward airline tickets for our Honor Guard to attend the 9-11 Memorial Service in New York and to purchase dress uniforms for the five members of the MPIF Honor Guard.

This past year we purchased an environmentally safe smoke machine for training and community education.  We also provided a public address system to be used for commissioners meetings and other activities.

Our biggest project has been the development and sales of newest cookbook.  Sales have been outstanding and has enabled us to purchase much needed items for the MPIFCD.

We invite the public to provide suggestions for ways in which we can assist the fire department to better serve the community.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our current officers are:  President – Marilyn Porthouse, Vice President – Joan Rosenberg, Treasurer – Sue Trimble, Secretary – Lily Cassidy and Historian – Sharon Bradley.

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to any residents over 18 who have an interest in helping the MPIFCD.  If you would be interested in joining us we meet on the first Monday of each month (excluding July and August) at 6:00 p.m. at  Fire Station I at 5700 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia, 33922.  Our dues are $20.00 per year (which defray the cost of a tee shirt).  Please feel free to use the following membership form and bring or mail with check to MPIF Auxiliary at Station I.
