MINUTES FOR THE SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 TENTATIVE HEARING

FOR THE MILLAGE AND BUDGET

FOR THE MATLACHA/PINE ISLAND FIRE CONTROL DISTRICT

 

CALL TO ORDER:  The meeting was called to order by Chair Elder at 5:01p.m.

ROLL CALL:  Commissioners Cox, Cole, Elder, Cammick and Peckinpaugh were present.  Chief Bradley, Deputy Chief Marzella, Captain Larrimore and Linda Richter.

 

Commissioner Elder states the first substantive issue discussed shall be the percentage increase in millage over the rolled-back rate necessary to fund the budget, if any, and the specific purposes for which ad Valorem tax revenues are being increased.

(At 2.3930)      -3.02%

Commissioner Elder reads Resolution 2007-02:

Commissioner Cammick moves to adopt Resolution 2007-02 setting millage rate at 2.5 mills with Commissioner Peckinpaugh to second.  Vote is as follows:  Peckinpaugh –aye/Cammick-aye/Elder-aye/Cole-aye/Cox-aye.  Motion passed unanimously.  (Copy of Resolution 2007-02 Adopting Tentative Millage Rate on file.)

 

Commissioner Elder reads Resolution 2007-03:

Commissioner Peckinpaugh moves to asopt Resolution 2007-03 setting forth the tentative budget in the amount of $10,335,446 with Commissioner Cammick to second.  Vote is as follows:  Peckinpaugh-aye/Cammick-aye/Elder-aye/Cole-aye/Cox-aye.  Motion passed unanimously.  (Copy of Resolution 2007-03 Adopting Tentative Budget on file.)

 

Commissioner Elder announces the following:

            Taxing Authority:  Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District

            Current Year Aggregate Rolled-Back Rate is 2.4675.

            Percent of increase over the rolled-back rate is 1.32%

            Current year proposed Millage Rate 2.5000 mills

            Current Ad Valorem Taxes proposed at 2.5000 mills is $5,248,590
